Ballots will be mailed to registered voters:
If you are an active registered voter, then you will automatically receive a ballot in the mail.
County clerks will start mailing out ballots beginning Tuesday, October 31, 2023. The last day to request a mail ballot is 5 p.m. November 14, 2023.

Voting FlyerEarly voting will take place on the following dates/times:
Tooele County Clerk’s Office, 47 S. Main St #318, Tooele UT 84074
Tuesday, November 14th through Friday, November 17th from 12pm – 4:30pm each day.  

There will be in-person polling locations from 7am to 8pm on Election Day, November 21, 2023 at:
  • Tooele County Admin Building (basement), 47 South Main Street, Tooele
  • Grantsville City Fire Station 
These locations are specifically for those needing ADA accommodations, those who did not receive a ballot in the mail, whose information is incorrect, or other emergencies.  However, everyone is welcome.  You will receive a paper ballot exactly like the one you received in the mail.  There will be a place you can sit and fill out your ballot and then drop it off in a ballot drop box located on site.  


Ballots sent by mail can be returned in 1 of 3 ways:
1. By ballot drop boxes by 8pm on November 21, 2023 at one of these locations (24 hour access unless otherwise noted):  
      • Tooele County Admin building (front parking lot)
      • Tooele City Hall (back, near utility drop box)
      • Grantsville City Hall
      • Stansbury Park – North Tooele Fire Station
      • Erda Fire Station
      • Lake Point Park (daytime access)
      • Stockton Town Hall (M-Th 9am-4pm)
      • Wendover City Hall (M-F 8am-5pm)
      • Vernon Elementary
      • Rush Valley Town Hall  
2. By mail, postmarked no later than November 20th, 2023

3. In person at the Clerk’s office by 8pm on November 21, 2023

Proposition 8 - Page 1
On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Tooele City residents will have the opportunity to vote on Proposition #8, Tooele City Question 1, about amending the Tooele City Charter.

PROPOSITION #8 – Tooele City Question 1

"Shall the Tooele City Charter, Section 3-01, be amended as proposed by the Tooele City Council? That Section 3-01 regarding the office of the City Recorder be amended by substituting the words “qualified elector of the city” with the words “qualified person”, and removing the term limit, to read as follows: The Council, with the advice of the Mayor, shall select a qualified person to act as City Recorder who shall be the clerk of the Council and shall be the depository for all City records not needed for current operations of any department. The City Recorder shall serve without limitation of time and in accordance with the City’s policies and procedures and other applicable law."

Updated June 16, 2023 to reflect new election dates for 2023:


Tooele City will hold a municipal election to elect three (3) City Council positions, all four-year terms. Given a sufficient number of candidates, a primary election will be held on August 15, 2023  September 5, 2023 with the municipal general election being held on November 7, 2023 November 21, 2023.  Tooele City will not be holding a primary election.

Qualifications for a candidate are: (1) Be a United States citizen; (2) Be at least 18 years old; (3) Be a registered voter of Tooele City; and (4) Be a resident of Tooele City for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the election.
  
Qualified candidates may file a Declaration of Candidacy form in person with the City Recorder at Tooele City Hall, 90 N. Main St., Tooele, Utah.  The filing period is from June 1, 2023 to June 7, 2023 during regular office hours and not later than 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing. All candidates for election are subject to financial disclosure requirements.

Notice is hereby given that Tooele City had six (6) candidates file a Declaration of Candidacy for three (3) City Council seats, all four-year terms.
