They have been honored by the International Bluegrass Music Association by being the first Utah Band (and Sharon Mitchell is the first hammered dulcimer player) to EVER be hired for an IBMA performance. Members have won several awards including Sharon as favorite Utah dulcimer player and Rick Martinez as favorite banjo player for IAMA.

June 10: THE B.D. HOWES BAND
BD Howes Band PhotoHowes’ tunes are an acoustic classic rock sound of originals and nice dusting of cover tunes.  B.D. Howes is a musician with a history in the intermountain and east coast music scene.  Howes has graced stages along the Wasatch Front for years, played some of the best clubs in Salt Lake and Park City, his beautiful melodies gliding arrangements and drift away vocals provide easy unobtrusive listening.

Some music critics stated that his songs sound like vintage, blues- based, 60s-classic…”  Others say that “vocals are somewhat reminiscent of Alejandro Escovedo’s, especially so on the closer, You Gotta be Real, which could pass for an old True Believer Tune…”

July 22: STICKSHIFT
StickShift PhotoStickShift was created in 2008 at Weber State University; As students there, Alan Watts, Taylor Malmrose, Ben Yuill, Kylen Seely, and Matthew Kinney were all involved in the music program in one way or another, and eventually started playing together. Alan, Ben, Matt and Taylor played together in the symphonic orchestra on violin, violin, percussion and French horn. Little did we know that Ben would start learning the banjo and that Taylor also played the bass guitar. Kylen (Ky) sang in the WSU choir and was recruited by Taylor to come play guitar. Chas Burks (Mandolin/ Guitar) is a home grown Tennessee recruit that Matthew Kinney introduced to us. Chas and Matthew recently joined StickShift to create some high intensity sounds we’ve been looking for.

Yes we play some covers, but we also write our own stuff and have a unique composition style that is clean and clever. (Alan) “When I write, I try to incorporate something you may not have known, even though it’s a part of every day life.” Our Genre can best be described as Texas Swing, Blue Grass, Jazzy, Country, Hot Fiddle, Stomp your feet music…….Our music is comparable to that of Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand.
July 29: KINDLE CREEK
Kindle Creek PhotoKindle Creek is far more than just an award winning country band with fans around the globe. Raised in the Rockies, and schooled right here on the edge of the great west desert, these boys have callouses on more than just fingers and thumbs. They learned young to toil and sweat for their keep. But it is the music that drives them on.

Their message is deeply rooted in country and community. Their love of life gives energy, passion, and honesty to every song.  When you listen you find yourself carried away to the place you’ve been longing to go, with the ones you’ve been longing to see. You sing along because the words know you. You reach for the stars because you feel them reaching back. Kindle Creek opens their world to you and pulls you right into the heart of it. And life is good there.
August 5: VOICE MALE
Voice Male ImageVoice Male has been delighting audiences for 20 years and is the Mountain West’s longest-running a cappella ensemble. The group’s six-man line-up is known for its rich vocal harmonies, family-friendly comedy, and down-to-earth delivery of the “best show in town.”

Voice Male has recorded 11 studio albums and is a past recipient of the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America’s award for Holiday Album of the Year and the LDS Booksellers Association’s award for Album of the Year.

August 12: RYAN SHUPE & THE RUBBERBAND
Ryan Shupe and Band PhotoRyan Shupe is roaring back with “We Rode On”, his new album coming the first part of 2016. “We Rode On” marks a striking career transition and a meaningful evolution in Shupe’s songwriting, his life, and the band’s sound.  It strongly and deftly combines the rock side of their musical arsenal with the acoustic instruments and virtuosic jamming the band has become known for in their live shows.

Like a mad musical scientist (and father/husband), Ryan Shupe recorded, arranged and tweaked the band’s newest creation in his personal studio. “I wanted to create a new sound and an evolution for the band’s music” said Shupe, “It’s the best album we’ve done and definitely the most rocking!”

Being a 5th generation fiddler, an accomplished electric guitar, acoustic guitar and mandolin player, Shupe has been touring extensively across the US since he was 10 years old. He is no stranger to the national stage and the band has appeared on Good Morning America, E! TV, Mountain Stage, Woodsongs, GAC and CMT.

They continue to tour regularly with stops at festivals, concert series, special events and prestigious venues. Bringing a national team together with radio, marketing, social media, and publicity, the band will continue touring nationally through 2015 and 2016 to promote the album, starting with the regions where they have a strong following.
